About us
Eco Vintage
Bringing out fashion with eco-consciousness, Eco Vintage is all about embracing traditional eco-friendly textiles made from natural fibers such as hemp, bamboo, linen, nettle and cotton. It is about the revival of traditional clothing with the fusion of innovation, vintage fashion and sustainability. By making clothing with the fusion of traditional elegance and modern chic design, we aspire to give simple yet elegant eco-friendly fashion statement.
Fast Fashion industry
Most fast fashion clothing today uses synthetic textile fibers produced from fossil fuel resources, such as oil and natural gas. Their production, consumption and related waste handling generate greenhouse gas emissions, use non-renewable resources and can release microplastics. The fashion industry has increasingly come under scrutiny for its role in polluting the environment, generating around 92 million tons of waste annually. It is expected to worsen and reach 134 million tons by 2030. While a good chunk of this waste is from clothing being burnt or sent to landfills, the very production of fabrics itself has adverse environmental impacts. Producing synthetic fabrics alone generates around 20% of the world’s wastewater.
Ecofriendly Sustainable Alternative
Fashion should not just be concerned about looking chic and stylish, but also be accountable to the ecological consequences. Customers need to be aware of the consequences of their fashion choices. Clothing made of natural fabrics is the best option to protect nature. Smart is the one who chooses the apparel that is least harmful to nature.
Eco Vintage is concerned about you being fashionable yet conscious. Choosing the natural and vegan fabrics that least harm nature and animals, we want you to wear ethical and sustainable apparels. By bringing back centuries-old eco-friendly fashion, we not only pay homage to our ancestors and their sustainable practices but also pave the way for a more harmonious relationship between fashion and the planet.
Made in Nepal
All the natural fabrics used in our clothing designs have been produced in the factories of Nepal. The mountains of Nepal known for its suitable climate for the vegetation of natural fibers, have been cultivating hemp, nettle, bamboo for textiles since centuries. Most of these fabrics are mixed with cotton threads to add softness to the texture. Cotton fabrics made in factories get their threads mostly from India. Out of all the natural fabrics, hemp fabrics are considered the best in terms of ecological advantages and sustainability. Diverse topography of Nepal has favourable environment for natural and abundant vegetation of hemp for textile fibers. Many rural villages still their own hands or use handlooms to weave threads from these fibres.
Most of the steps of making hemp, nettle, cotton, bamboo cloth, from sowing seed in the fields, through the many stages of fiber processing, to spinning and weaving the yarn, are performed by women. Textile industry has been the major source of economy for people in these area. Valuing the efforts of the local artisans in handcrafting and helping these local small scale textile industries is also one of the objectives of Eco Vintage.
