Properties of fabric used
1. Hemp and cotton are natural all-weather fabrics comfortable to wear, breathable, lightweight and insulating. They allow an optimum amount of airflow, keeping you cool in the summer and allows you to warm up in winter. The core temperature of the body works with the fabric, not against it and so preserve your true body temperature.
2. Hemp is extremely tensile and so adds strength and durability to the textile while cotton gives softness to it. Hemp is 4 times the strength of cotton and is significantly less prone to abrasion. More you wash and use the fabric, more it softens and becomes more comfortable on the skin.
3. Both hemp and cotton are eco-friendly, 100% biodegradable and compostable. Unlike synthetic fibres (i.e., polyester, acrylic, or nylon) made from synthesized chemicals that are derived from petrochemicals, these natural fabrics don’t contain or shed micro-plastics when washed or thrown. It can decompose naturally and does not contribute to pollution, minimizing our ecological footprint. Clothes that are not naturally biodegradable may spend a long period in a landfill when thrown.
4. Hemp fabrics are odour resistant and help you smell good all day. Hemp cloth is resistant to mildew and mold because of its antibacterial and anti-fungal characteristics, and it absorbs moisture. Hemp is highly resistant to mould, mildew, salt water and rotting, making it ideal for humid climates or travelling.
5. Both hemp and cotton fabrics are hypoallergenic and does not irritate the skin and can even kill bacteria that come into contact with it. They can be extremely sanitary because of antibacterial and antifungal properties.
6. Hemp can absorb moisture up to 20% of it’s own weight while still feeling dry to the touch. This is important for fabrics in contact with our skin, as perspiration is quickly absorbed and released. This means less moisture is retained and less odour-causing bacteria (body odour) can build up. This allows for more wears between washes.
7. Excellent UV rating of hemp fibre protects your skin by naturally filtering UV light. It is 99.9% effective in protecting the skin from both uva and uvb rays. You can wear hemp clothing and go outside freely.
8. They are light machine washable fibers and doesn’t require any special attention. It actually thrives on regular use and washing which improves its natural lustre and feel. Hemp can release stains more easily than other fabrics, and is also very fast drying, while retaining color better than any other fabric.
